expanded frames

Expanded Frames is an interdisciplinary exhibition and film screening programme that explores the relationship between moving and still images. Bringing together short films, photography, and painting, the project examines how the concept of the frame operates across different artistic practices and how images can move beyond their conventional boundaries.

Presented by téchne e.V., the exhibition creates a space for dialogue between filmmakers, visual artists, and audiences, highlighting emerging FLINTA* voices working across contemporary visual culture.

About the Exhibition

Through the encounter of film, photography, and painting, Expanded Frame investigates different ways of constructing images and narratives. While cinema unfolds through movement and time, photography and painting often capture a single moment. By bringing these practices together, the exhibition invites visitors to reflect on perception, memory, storytelling, and the evolving role of the image in contemporary culture.
