N. Ceitlin

N. Ceitlin (b. Berlin) is a Berlin-based video artist currently studying Art Education at the Berlin University of the Arts (UdK). After completing a degree in Political Science at Freie Universität Berlin, Ceitlin's engagement with political theory, philosophy, and questions of identity became central influences on their artistic practice.

Working primarily with video, Ceitlin creates peculiar, intimate, and theatrical worlds inhabited by uncanny, almost-human characters. Through handmade dolls, distorted voice-overs, and carefully constructed stage-like environments, their work explores identity, selfhood, embodiment, and the performance of personhood. These strange yet humorous figures invite viewers to reflect on what it means to become, perform, and understand oneself.

Although rooted in digital media, Ceitlin's practice remains deeply connected to material processes. Handmade puppets, analogue construction methods, and experimental performance form the basis of works that oscillate between playfulness and melancholy. Influenced by contemporary theatre, projection and staging become tools for introducing layers of illusion, distortion, and philosophical inquiry directly into the scene.

Across their videos, questions of autonomy, transformation, desire, and self-construction emerge through narratives that are simultaneously absurd, vulnerable, and deeply human.
